More than a youth centre, it's a youth culture...
The BASE Youth Centre is a Christian not-for-profit organisation which works with young people aged 10 to 25 in Toowoomba to see them reach their full potential through a variety of activities and programs.
THE BASE YOUTH CENTRE BELIEVES YOUNG PEOPLE ARE:
Creative, daring, fun, knowledgeable, energetic, Inspiring, resilient, talented, my heroes, compassionate, considerate, enthusiastic, courageous, passionate, outgoing, awesome, amazing, strong, beautiful, humble, positive, radiant, enthusiastic, inventive, adventurous, real, faithful, dependable, honest, loyal, unconditional, technical, endued with potential, bold, sensitive, generous intuitive, assertive, tender-hearted, wise-beyond-years, valiant, vivacious, vibrant, open, special, valuable, playful and not simply the future, they are the HERE and NOW!
SO HOW DID IT START?
A bit like a band in a garage!!! Sitting on a couch in our garage Nat, I and our house mate Helen started to talk about starting something for young people we came up with the word BASE which stands for Build Up, Accept, Support and Encourage
We wanted to build up young people when others tear down, to accept when others reject, to support when others let go and encourage when others discourage... and from there the dream started to turn into a reality.
